WorkSafe BC and the Massage Therapy Association of BC (MTABC) have a detailed agreement (effective January 01, 2011 to December 31, 2015) which guides treatment protocol and reporting for participating Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs). This document is a positive collaboration aimed at assisting injured workers to return to work in a safe and timely manner. I appreciate the efforts made by the Insurer and the MTABC in creating this document.
The requirements for reporting and the protocol for treatment that are specified and mandatory within this agreement do not fit in to every clinic situation; as such, it is each individual RMT’s choice whether or not to work under the agreement.
In my case, being a single practitioner home-based office without support staff, I find it difficult to manage the administrative demands of the WorkSafe BC Insurance claims. Therefore, I have chosen NOT to work under the agreement; which means I do not bill WorkSafe BC directly for my services.
I do have extensive experience assisting people with injury rehabilitation and am happy to help you in your recovery. If you have an open WorkSafe BC claim you are welcome to pay privately in order to receive massage therapy treatments from me.
